We were contacted by a concerned member about the inclusion of Mermaids on the MyWI pages that are exclusively for WI members. Below are screenshots.

Most of this content is uncontroversial but the promotion of Mermaids is concerning:

It is under investigation for safeguarding failures.

It has been accused of interference at the GIDS Tavistock.

It had a trustee resign after it was disclosed he was paedophile apologist.

It lost a court case that attempted to stop LGB people self organising.

We are calling on the NFWI to stop promoting this charity at least until it has been exonerated by the Charity Commission

After the Cass Review was published we again visited the “Let’s Talk About” section of MyWI and reviewed the organisations signposted. These organisations included:

Gendered Intelligence – supports those aged between 8 and 25, includes having “trans only” swimming sessions which pose a safeguarding risk due to the age groups of 11 to 25 or 8 to 15. The online groups also have a large age range.

Schools Out – another organisation promoting gender identity ideology at children as young as 5.

Also sign posted are Stonewall and Gender Identity Research and Education Society – both promoters of puberty blockers, which are now indefinitely banned by the Health Secretary.

We wrote to the NFWI to remove these organisations on 20 April 2024, but they have declined.
